SEIU Women Of Influence: Winter Carter

Winter Carter works in the call center at Kaiser Permanente, and as the first line of contact for people who need help accessing care, she brings compassion and empathy to her work navigating patients’ needs. She brings this same energy and care to her baked-goods business, The Vegan Villain.

After discovering that her son had some food sensitivities, Winter began experimenting with baking vegan, gluten-free, and nut-free foods that became a hit with people in her community. She decided to start selling her baked goods, and uses her love of science and her passion for baking to make desserts that everyone can enjoy regardless of their dietary restrictions. She also donates baked goods to raise money for nonprofits and social justice causes.

“After a hard day at work, dessert is a moment when people can indulge in a treat and be happy. This is my way of bringing joy to people. It’s a moment of bliss.”
